What is 360° appraisal? A 360° appraisal process allows an organisation to objectively evaluate the performance of its employees using anonymous, objective feedback from a number of sources. These sources typically include the employee, their manager, their peers and their direct reports although sometimes information is requested from external customers as well. The very nature of a 360 appraisal means a more balanced and helpful evaluation because the review is fair and impartial and uses the average scores of many, rather than the subjective opinion of one! 360 Feedback can enrich an organisation’s human resources through the identification of individuals’ personal development needs, improved feedback and teamwork, and better career development. The end results include improved customer service and a better “bottom line”. The 360° process - how does it work? STEP 1: Project Planning - Firstly, we help each participant to identify their reviewers, determine reasonable deadlines for each phase and develop an employee communication plan. STEP 2: Reviewer Selection - Participants are requested via email to access a secure website using a unique password. They then fill out a simple form to select their “reviewers” — colleagues who will complete the survey. STEP 3: Survey Completion - During the reviewing period (usually two weeks), reviewers are asked via email to fill out the surveys over the web. STEP 4: Feedback Delivery - After the reviews are complete, initial feedback reports are sent via email to each participant. We then meet with them to work through a self-guided workbook that facilitates the action-planning process. STEP 5: Follow-Up - Follow-up and support significantly enhances the effectiveness of your 360° program.
