Process Improvement Programmes

The traditional business improvement approach concentrates on improving the value added element of the process. The term ‘value added’is where a product or service is transformed in a manner that adds value to the product and increases its desirability to the customer. Typically these business improvements were made after work place time study of personnel, or by making machines run faster and harder. The value added element of world class companies is typically 2% of total lead time of an order.

The Lean approach looks at reducing the non-value added elements of your business process. By analyzing and eliminating the waste, dramatic improvements in lead time, production efficiency, stock turns, cash flow and floor space utilization are all possible. In other words working ‘smarter not harder. The most surprising element of lean is that most improvements cost little or no money. All that is required is time and effort from your greatest asset, your own people.
